Mrs Earith from Sandbach in Cheshire East wanted to improve her bungalow with a new upvc lean to conservatory. Late last year this stunning new sunroom was installed at by Extend a Room at Mrs Earith’s home in Sandbach, Cheshire.
The challenge

Many people mistakenly think the bungalows are not suitable for conservatories because of the low eaves height. Admittedly, it can be difficult when designing a conservatory to maintain the head room height in the new sunroom, but it is possible to do so. Extend a Room use their technical know-how gained from years of experience fitting lean to conservatories on bungalows not only in Sandbach, Cheshire but all over the UK. They were able to assure Mrs Earith that the she would be happy with the size and style of the conservatory and that it would complement her bungalow nicely.

Another common challenge of the low bungalow roof is the rainwater drainage from it to the lean to conservatory roof. If the areas where the sunroom joins the house aren’t sealed properly, it can result in leakages. Again, the plan for the lean to conservatory had to take this into account and the company had to design the guttering system correctly to start with.

The solution

Gathering the correct information at the beginning of the project is essential with any major works undertaken, so the company undertook a careful site survey at the bungalow in Sandbach, Cheshire.

The company has overcome all the potential bungalow roof issues with the use of their own specifically designed aluminium box gutter system. This allows the roof of the new upvc lean to conservatory to be raised in such a way that the roof height inside the new sunroom is the same height as the property, giving a greater feel of space and comfort inside the new lean to conservatory. It also creates a guttering system from the bungalow main roof, allowing rainwater to drain away via the down pipes without any risk of leakages.

In this way the company was able to make sure that there is a perfect weather seal between the existing roof of the property and the new sunroom roof with a perfect finish every time.

As a finishing touch, the windows on one side of the lean to conservatory were replaced with smart white panels to give a traditional wall effect. This hid the actual view on that side of a close, high fence. The door out to the garden is on the side, so that there is no interruption to the view as you step into the sunroom from the house, or indeed as you sit inside and look out.

The result

Of the many different styles of lean to conservatory in Sandbach, Cheshire, Mrs Earith is entirely delighted with hers. With the installation completed within a couple of days, there was minimal disruption to her life. Now she can sit back and relax in her sunroom, full of natural health giving sunlight, and enjoy gazing over the picturesque garden beyond. Another happy customer for Extend a Room!
