Mr and Mrs Chappell live in a bungalow in a cul de sac in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. They really needed some more living space and contacted Extend a Room. Soon, their dream came true and they were the proud owners of this large lean to conservatory at their home.
The challenge
This site was challenged in a couple of ways. To start with, the most suitable area of the site for a sunroom already had a major obstacle – a garage! This obviously would need to be removed before any upvc lean to conservatory could be installed.
Next, the area where the new sunroom would be located was over-looked by lots of houses in the cul-de-sac in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. The company’s designers needed to be creative to come up with plans which would give the customer the extra room that they wanted, but also provide privacy for the family.
The solution
First, the company needed to remove the old garage to make sure there was a clear surface for the installers to work upon, to begin to create the new upvc lean to conservatory. Skips were ordered, and swiftly removed and emptied as the old garage was demolished.
To ensure privacy, the reinforced steel frames had most of the glass removed, with the remainder being insulated upvc panels. There was still enough glass at the top of the frames of the lean to conservatory to allow the light to pour in.
It was essential that the new sunroom have a warm and insulated floor to keep it cosy and trap all the heat coming in through the glass. Extend a Room’s unique steel base system includes a 50mm under floor insulation. Paired with an 18mm external grade chip board tongue and groove flooring, this combination creates a lovely warm floor for this new upvc lean to conservatory.
The result
Getting rid of an old, falling down garage paved the way for this fantastic new upvc lean to conservatory. This new sunroom has brought a new dimension to Mr & Mrs Chappell’s home in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Now the family have the space to relax and enjoy each other’s company, now that there’s plenty of room for everyone.
