Mrs Morgan from Cardiff, South Wales was looking to increase the size of her property without the inconvenience and expense of moving home. She responded to one of Extend a Room’s adverts, and soon was looking over their latest full colour brochure. She was impressed by the large range of customers’ sunrooms and conservatories shown, not only in her local area of Cardiff, South Wales, but all over the UK. Mrs Morgan decided to ask the company to give her a free quotation to design and install a lean to conservatory.
The challenge
A common challenge when constructing any garden room on a terraced house is the access to the rear of the property. And indeed, this was the difficulty at Mrs Morgan’s house in Cardiff, South Wales. The components of the lean to conservatory need to be of a size that they can be carried through the property from the front to the rear. Thus Extend a Room construct the lean to conservatory frames and steel base within the exact dimensions dictated by the terraced house, allowing for straight forward construction when in situ.
This wasn’t the only challenge: Mrs Morgan had an existing canopy which she wanted to keep at her home in Cardiff, South Wales. The new lean to conservatory was to be situated beneath. .
The solution
Extend a Room’s designers had to plan a lean to conservatory with a reduced overall height to accommodate the existing canopy and allow it to open to its full extent. The surveyors carefully measured the house and canopy so that they were completely satisfied that design proposition was achievable, before instructing the factory to commence the manufacture of the sunroom’s steel bases and lean to conservatory frames.
Since it was the customer’s requirement that the sunroom’s floor space was to be maximised, the design included a sliding patio door system.
The result
Mrs Morgan and her family have a beautiful new lean to conservatory, which perfectly complements their home in Cardiff, South Wales. Using our steel base system without the need for foundations, the sunroom was installed in a couple of days instead of a couple of months! Thanks to careful planning, the disruption to family life was minimal. All the components of the lean to conservatory were delivered prior to the installation, and easily transported through the terrace house. Our fitters had the job done in few days, leaving the Morgans an attractive new room within which to enjoy family life.
