Mrs Crump lives in a lovely retirement bungalow in Canvey Island. She wanted to extend her living space, and now has this beautiful new lean to conservatory.
The challenge
Mrs Crump’s property had a small back garden, and although she wanted a sunroom, it was important to keep some garden area as well. The designer had to come up with a lean to conservatory solution which would use the available space as efficiently as possible.
The other difficulty with a small site area, as there was here in Canvey Island, Essex, is that there isn’t much space for the sunroom components to be stored on delivery. The installation has to be streamlined so that it’s completed quickly, and the customer isn’t inconvenienced by lots of building materials lying around their home and garden.
Finally, no one wants to be overlooked by neighbours, and the Extend a Room designer had the challenge of giving privacy to Mrs Crump and her family when they were sitting their new sunroom in Canvey Island, Essex.
The solution
The bungalow has a kitchen detail which sticks out from the rest of the house into the back garden. This created a rectangular area which was just being used to walk over to get to the garden proper. In fact, this unused space was ideal for a quick and simple lean to conservatory installation. The back of the house and the side of the jutting out kitchen already provided 2 of the new sunroom walls.
The unique Extend a Room steel base was constructed to exact specification off site in the company’s factory. Then it was disassembled and delivered in steel bar lengths to site for placing onto the concrete pads on the patio area.
With the base in place, the singular reinforced steel upvc lean to conservatory frames were fitted. In an effort to keep the room as large as possible and give a feeling of space, there was no dwarf wall. Instead the frames were filled with glass from ground to roof. This maximises the natural sunlight available, as does the glass roof. The 4th wall frames had frosted glass, giving privacy to all whist not losing any light.
The result
Now Mr & Mrs Crump can sit back and relax in their lovely new lean to conservatory at their home in Canvey Island, Essex. They can look out over their garden in peace and comfort. They’ve created a new room in their home with minimal fuss, mess and expense.
Another happy customer for Extend a Room!
