Mr Sewell from West Sussex wanted to extend and improve his property to accommodate the needs of a vibrant young family. He chose to have an Edwardian conservatory installed at his home to allow the family more space to dine together and spend some quality family time.
The challenge
One challenge when constructing an Edwardian conservatory is to minimise the upheaval in the lives of the homeowner and family, especially when there are young children living in the house. The installation needs to be carried out as quickly and safely as possible.
Another issue encountered at the site of this sunroom in West Sussex was made apparent at the site inspection by our surveyors. The garden area where the sunroom was to be installed was higher the ground floor level of the house.
Mr Sewell’s isn’t the only property in West Sussex to have differing floor levels between the house and the garden, and Extend a Room were able to call on the expertise gained from many thousands of successful installations all over the UK when deciding how to tackle the installation of this particular Edwardian conservatory.
The solution
Here’s where Extend-A-Room brings its unique skill into play to minimise disruption: the innovative steel base which is manufactured in its own factory. Without need for unsightly diggings and foundations, using concrete pads and a steel base instead, the company had in this case a build time of only three to four days to install a stunning new Edwardian conservatory.
To address the differing ground levels, another great advantage of the Edwardian conservatory steel base system comes into its own. Because the company is in full control of manufacture of their conservatories from start to finish, it can specify not only the size the conservatory steel base needs to be, but also crucially for Mr Sewell, the precise height. Careful engineering calculations were made at the house in West Sussex, so that the company were able to deliver exactly what was required to harmonise the levels.
The result
In West Sussex there are many varying styles of sunroom, But Mr Sewell is delighted with his Edwardian conservatory. He now has the space he needed for his young children, but also a lovely family room full of beautiful bright natural light, bringing smiles to everyone.
