Mrs Coleman lives in Leeds, West Yorkshire. She wanted to extend her beautiful stone property with a new upvc conservatory. She contacted Extend a Room to see if they could make her dream come true. Early last year, this stunning Edwardian conservatory was installed at her home.
The challenge
Mrs Coleman had an attractive mature garden of flowers and lawn, and did not want to lose any of it, or have it disturbed by messy building works. The garden was much higher than the area where the Edwardian conservatory floor would be, so that when seated in the sunroom, it would be at eye level. This created a challenge for the designers; to create a room which would have calm views over the garden, giving a feeling of space without being overpowered by the proximity of the garden.
Another difficulty would be the delivery and storage of all the Edwardian conservatory components, such as the steel bases, upvc frames and windows, and the roof. At this site in Leeds, West Yorkshire, there wasn’t a great deal of room for these items.
The solution
The solution is to use the Extend-A-Room method of building conservatories. Because the company pre build each upvc conservatory or sunroom in their factories, the assembly time on site is reduced considerably. This removes all the mess and stress from the installation of the new conservatory for Mrs Coleman, making the experience a pleasurable one. With their unique, specifically designed steel conservatory base and singular wall frames, the company’s method of constructing Edwardian conservatories and sunrooms sets them apart from any other company in the industry. No weeks of digging foundations, saving on cost and disruption.
The glazing was floor to ceiling, so as to maximize the view of the mature garden. The Edwardian vaulted roof style was chosen to keep the roof height high, and give an airy, light feel to the new upvc conservatory.
The French doors were located to the side of the new Edwardian conservatory, so that there wasn’t any clearance space needed between the garden and the sunroom. This maximized the area the new room could have.
The result
Of the many different conservatory styles in Leeds, West Yorkshire, this Edwardian conservatory is just perfect for Mrs Coleman. Now she can enjoy her garden all year round, sitting comfortably in the sunlight filled new sunroom. Not only that, she has increased the value of her property, too.
