Mr and Mrs Freeman from Ipswich in Suffolk were looking to improve their property and enjoy their garden more. This beautiful bespoke upvc conservatory was installed last year.
The challenge
The customer had a much loved Christmas tree planted adjacent to the area where the conservatory would ideally be situated, and they really did not want to disturb the tree or remove it.
Having installed many thousands of sunrooms in gardens not just locally in Ipswich, Surrey but all over the UK, Extend a Room has often had to contend with the challenges posed by trees. The close proximity of a tree to a conservatory can give cause for concern because the tree roots below the ground may be growing towards the house. Could the company accommodate the tree?
Like most customers, Mr and Mrs Freeman from Ipswich in Suffolk wanted their bespoke conservatory to be connected to their property. However, there was a tiled lean to roof on their house which might be in the way of the site allocated for the new bespoke sunroom.
The solution
Here’s where Extend a Room’s steel base system really shows its class! Unlike in older methods of construction where tree roots can disturb and move foundations and floors, the close proximity to trees is no problem. The steel base is installed on small concrete pads, not a complete strip foundation, so the roots of shrubs and trees can freely grow through and around the base. In this way the customer can have the sunroom he wants in the place he wants it, making the technology work for him.
The shape of the sunroom was adapted to let it have a faceted corner, accommodating the tree outside. Similarly, the roof was cut especially to fit the bespoke shape of the conservatory beneath.
Extend a Room used its aluminium box gutter system to allow the lean to roof on the property to connect to the new roof of the conservatory. This system is specifically designed to anticipate and remove any fear of leakages from rainwater ingress.
The result
Of the many different sunroom styles to be found in Ipswich in Suffolk, Mr and Mrs Freeman’s new bespoke conservatory is surely unique. The additional room is exactly what they wanted, and has brought a previously unused area of their garden to life! With its light, bright and airy interior, their beautiful new sunroom provides a focal point in which the family can gather to relax and enjoy each other’s company. And enjoy the view of their Christmas tree!
Extend a Room are pleased to have another happy customer, and are proud of the conservatory they installed for Mr and Mrs Freeman from Ipswich in Suffolk.
