Mr Gill Rapper at Toy Box Day Nursery in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, was looking to increase the size of his Nursery with a beautiful new upvc lean to conservatory. The new sunroom was installed at the Nursery in Brighouse early last year.
The challenge

A common challenge with commercial builds, regardless of whether Victorian conservatories, Edwardian conservatories, or lean to conservatories is the time allowed on site. There had to be minimal disruption to the safe environment for the children at the Toy Box day Nursery in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

The commercial building of upvc lean to conservatories is under time and safety issues. Obviously, there are many children running around the Toy Box day Nursery in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, and their safety must be paramount. The company also understood that Mr Rapper’s business must not suffer during the duration of the installation. The company had to be very aware of the health and safety issues whilst constructing the upvc conservatory in Brighouse.

The new sunroom needed to be situated between two existing walls which were at a right angle to each other at the site in West Yorkshire. This could easily create leakage issues with the new upvc lean to conservatory.

There can also be sealing issues between the two walls if the corner isn’t true, and difficulties getting the water runoff flowing properly. There are various tactics that the company can use to ensure effective water drainage.

The solution

When the rain water is running off two roofs it can be unpredictable. If there is any amount of debris, such as fallen leaves on the roof of the upvc lean to conservatory, it will alter the direction of the water, and can lead to blockages if not installed properly.

The surveyors at Extend-A-Room worked on the design with Gill at Toy Box Day Nursery in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. The sunroom had low, ground level solid upvc panels to give privacy, and to allow for cupboards to be placed against them for storage of toys. The steel base and upvc frames of the conservatory are all pre assembled in the company factories, so when delivered to site there was minimal work to be done preparing the sunroom for construction.

The result

There are many different styles of upvc lean to conservatories in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, but Gill from Toy Box day Nursery is delighted with the finished product. The sunroom with its low-level panels was the perfect design for the site. Fortunately, the planning process and building regulations were handled by the company, as the demands of the site were technically complex. As a result, the Toy Box day Nursery in Brighouse was able to quickly increase the pupil intake immediately after construction of their conservatory, and thus expand their business without moving location. The new sunroom blended with the existing school and was completely installed in a couple of days in West Yorkshire. Extend-A-Room is committed where possible to supporting deserving causes in local communities. The company supports Riding for the Disabled and various youth sporting clubs. This hospice conservatory installation on the Wirral, Merseyside, is just one of the good causes benefiting from the company’s support.
